I got my first taste of professional journalism three years ago during an internship at The Charlotte Observer. At the Observer I learned how to follow a great lead with a well-organized story. At the Houston Chronicle I juggled several different beats, even filling in for the City Hall reporter for a while.

During my senior year in college, I was the weekend cops reporter for the Austin American-Statesman. As the only person in the newsroom for most of the day, I had to depend on my news judgment and organization to help me cover stories on a second's notice.

My real portfolio includes articles from all four papers, but the online version focuses on more recent clips. Please enjoy.
